In a scene which increasingly witnesses the surge of feeble tendencies, the lack of artistic honesty and the contamination from shallow consumerist habits, it is with praise that one faces a group channeled from the hellish pits spewing Blood and Fire only offered by genuine and vicious devotion to the Black Arts, refusing to merely please, challenging the listener out of a pointless comfort zone. Enter Maldito, a wolfpack hatched from Portugal comprised of individuals that under entities such as Corpus Christii, Flagellum Dei and Grievance have ravished throughout the dark past of the Lusitanian landscape bestowing works of death into the present day. Rearing its ugly specter with “O Renascer, O Crer”, four ordeals are emanated from a vision of disruptive Black Metal fervor created with a straight unpolluted old-school mix, brimming of raw energy, rejecting the artificial means and effects of fabricated bland rawness but hailing true tradition. Blazing with fiery momentum, both the unsettling approach of NH’s lead guitar work and Sabaoth’s belligerent riffing produce an ominous aura together with Koraxid’s pungent drumming, a performance which for its impulsive execution never falls into recklessness, instead marching forward with striking creativity. Under demonic and feverish angst, Koraxid’s poisonous throat harkens firing on all cylinders with the intensity and coldness of a fanatical commitment much missed these days, a hellish spite that bleeds infernal allegiance to real darkness and evil. With these four tracks, Maldito burst all the elemental essence of true Black Metal with hatred, intolerance and visceral consecration. Released on a limited cassette tape edition through War Arts Productions, “O Renascer, O Crer” is a sharp dagger in the heart of a dying world, an hymn to His Will, a monument for His Glory.
